We last visited the Bergerkirche in October last year, holding the meeting in July we hope we will be lucky with the weather and that we can have tables set up in the courtyard.
The forecast is good so hopefully we can enjoy a summer evenings in the Old town in one of its nicest little corners.

The Bergerkirche was a Lutheran church built in 1687 in an inconspicuous courtyard as, at the time, the Lutherans represented a minority in Düsseldorf.
The church was hit by a bomb in 1943 and was subsequently almost totally destroyed by fire. And although it was restored in the 1960’s, regular church services have not been held there since 1901.
Tobias Rehberger, an artist from Frankfurt, was commissioned with the restoration of the church’s interior in 2003 so that it could be used by the Diaconia charitable organization.
The Bergerkirche is open on workdays and is now not only a place of calm and prayer, it is also a venue for church services, talks, debates and congresses focusing on the Christian aspects of social work.
The Bergerkirche is also a source of information for the wide range of services provided by the Diaconia in Düsseldorf.
If you're coming by public transport:
Take a tram to Heinrich-Heine-Allee, walk down Flingerstrasse, turn left into Berger Strasse and enter the courtyard to the church.
There are town information signs at the entrance to the inner courtyard and the church, really easy to see.
If you’re coming by car:
Head for the Car park underneath the Altstadt, enter from the Rhine tunnel.
Walk out at the exit "Altstadt / town centre", it’s a minute walk away.
VIF Weinhandel will be supplying the wine, and catering will be organised by your committee, so please register to allow us to provide sufficient for everyone.
