Next meeting 5th of August
An Invitation to you
The next Meeting of The Business Network Germany will take place at:
Botanischer Garten Düsseldorf
Heinrich-Heine-Universität
Gebäude 29.01. Universitätsstr. 1
40225 Düsseldorf
Time: 18.30 - 21.30
Our host:
Frau Dr. Sabine Etges, custodian of the Gardens.
Guided tour at 19:00 hours
Please be on time if you wish to participate in a short guided tour of the green houses and part of the garden by Herr Gartenmeister Christian Krüger. If you don’t make it on time, you will still have the opportunity to have a look around.
Since the Botanical Gardens are a non-profit organisation, we have been asked to put a small some of money towards the cost of the evening, in particular the guided tour. The more of you who come along to what promises to be a very interesting and pleasant evening, the smaller the charge will be per head!
A short description of the Botanical Gardens
More information in German can be found on www.botanischergarten.uni-duesseldorf.de
The Botanical Gardens of the Heinrich-Heine-University lie at the southern end of the city in the Himmelgeiseter bend of the Rhine. It is not only a seat of scientific research and teaching, but is open to visitors throughout the year both as individuals and in groups for guided tours.
The impressive centrepiece of the garden is an 18 meter high glass dome providing 1000 m² of space for around 400 different species of plants originating from areas with dry summers and rainy winters such the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Africa, Chile and California. Under a further 335 m² of glass South African plants from the Cape Region are on show and in other green houses there are various plant collections and space for plants that need protection in winter.
The remainder of the approximately 3,5 ha of garden is divided into various theme areas including flowering plants, plants to touch and smell, vegetables and a herbal garden.
How to get there:
By public transport (Rheinbahn)
The Botanical Garden is served by the trams 707, 711 and 716 (final stop Universität Ost / Botanischer Garten). The trams 711 and 716 run from Monday to Saturday only and not during the school holidays.
The 735, 827, 835 and 836 buses (Monday to Saturday only) stop at the Universität Süd bus stop. From there the Botanical Garden is about 3 minutes away on foot.
By car
Motorway A 46 towards Wuppertal. Take the Düsseldorf Bilk exit (23) and follow the signs to the university.
Motorway A 46 from Wuppertal. Take the Düsseldorf Innenstadt / Universität exit (immediately after exit 24, Wersten).
Motorway A 57. Take the Neuss-Hafen / Düsseldorf exit. Continue towards Düsseldorf and follow the signs to the university. Ample parking space is available at the P 25 and the P 27a car parks.
NB
Public transport is probably the easiest option as the garden is only 10 minutes walk from the "Endstation" and clearly marked "Botanischer Garten". Alternatively we suggest you contact a friend you know has a car and travel together.
